Price Changes 01. February 2012

Dear Whistle-Friends,

working independently I was able to cover some of the increased material, energy and insurance costs over the last years with additional working hours but there is only so much time in a day you can work.

After keeping the prices stable since January 2007, as of first of February there is another small price change for my instruments. Over the last 12 years this is the third time my prices have raised with a total increase since 1999 for a non-tuneable Soprano D whistle from 120 to now 140 Euros and non-tuneable Tenor D from 165 to now 195 Euros (excl. VAT).

Brigitte is finally up-to-date with her email-backlog since last night and will handle new incoming requests for another week as if they came in before the raise. Already placed orders of course are not affected by this increase as well as already given offers.

I hope I can keep my prices stable for a good while and thank everyone for your support through the years.

Whistle Workshop during Borduntage Osnabrück 20.-22. April 2012

I have been asked to come along and teach whistle which is something I have been doing one to one and the occassional Beginner Workshop but this will be the first weekend course. If you were interested to come along it would be good if you understand a little English as my German is half decent but not perfect. This will be a beginner's workshop where all the technique for playing the instrument will be taught so that when you go home you have plenty to practice. Recording devices may be helpful. The course is for high and/or low whistles in the key of D. If you have any questions please contact me beforehand.

Oesede ist ein Ortsteil von Georgsmarienhütte und liegt ca. 10 km südlich von Osnabrück.

HALLO FREUNDE DER BORDUNMUSIK

Vom 20. bis 22. April 2012 laden wir ein zu den zweiten Borduntagen im Osnabrücker Land. Der Kurs richtet sich an Anfänger und Fortgeschrittene, die an ihren Fertigkeiten auf Dudelsack, Drehleier und Hummel/Dulcimer arbeiten oder sich im Ensemblespiel üben möchten. Dabei soll aber auch Spass und Geselligkeit nicht zu kurz kommen.

VERANSTALTUNGSORT
Für Kurs und Unterbringung steht uns die Kath. LandvolkHochschule Oesede vollständig zur Verfügung. Sie ist ruhig gelegen, mit Blick auf den Teutoburger Wald und bietet sehr gute Arbeits- und Unterbringungsbedingungen, sowie eine sehr gute Verpflegung. Oesede ist ein Ortsteil von Georgsmarienhütte und liegt ungefähr 10 km südlich von Osnabrück.

Am Samstag, den 21.04.2012, gibt es mittags eine Ausstellung mit Büchern und CDs sowie verschiedenen Sackpfeifen. Abends findet ein bunter Abend statt.

ANREISE
Die Anreise muss pünktlich zum Kursbeginn am Freitag um 14 Uhr erfolgen! Ein späterer Einstieg in die Gruppen ist nicht mehr möglich!

Der Kurs endet am Sonntag nach dem Mittagessen.

UNTERBRINGUNG
Die Unterbringung erfolgt in 2-Bettzimmern in der LandvolkHochschule. Es stehen auch ein paar wenige Einzelzimmer gegen Aufpreis zur Verfügung. Bettwäsche ist nicht mitzubringen.

Workshop move - update

The office has been renovated and set up during the last few weeks and all got finished last weekend. Hopefully "things" will get back to normal soon. Our email response during the last three weeks has been "non existing" but getting at it now, so if you wrote to us during this last month and have not heard back, should be within a couple of weeks that we can catch up to a normal response time again.

This is a short note from us to let you know we are still in the process of renovation and outbuilding on the new house. We have had no time to carry on updating the diary for the move but it is getting there and we are happy with what has been achieved so far. We are working 15+ hours a day every day as we want to leave the old house asap. Consequently emails are also behind and can still take 2 weeks before we can answer. We are moving house and workshop

Please note that due to moving house and workshop and the renovations involved with this we expect our email and whistle building making to be a little errattic. I will be making whistles during this time frame but also working on the new workshop and house so that I can move the old workshop over as soon as possible.

To give you a little insight of what has been going on, we invite you to have a look here where we have some information and also photos about the new home. We will update this page as we go along with the renovations and has been so far a very exciting time for us and looking forward to the changes.

Website and Goldie Whistle launch

This is the launch of the new website and with it comes a new name for the instruments that I make. After 16 years of calling my instruments Overton I will now use my own name "Goldie" to mark the whistles that I make. A year after Bernard Overton’s death the family put forward a new agreement in such a way that I decided to let go of the name Overton. There are more important things ahead of us now other than thinking “which name to call my instruments", so it was not a hard decision to change to Goldie.

We are hoping to add to the website as time goes by and can assure you that the whistles will remain first class as nothing has changed apart from the stamp that is used and that if you now say “Goldie Whistle” it is clear one of my instruments is meant.
